I am so excited to be participating in #FallWritingFrenzy for the first time this year! For this contest, we had to pick a picture and write a story inspired by that picture in 200 words or less. Thank you for reading my story! Head to Lydia Lukidis' website to read all of the other wonderful entries! Halloween- Credit: Samantha Hurley / Burst Jackie L. Antern Wc: 130 A brisk October evening, sitting on the porch. Ignored by everyone who passes by. “What is my purpose,” I wonder deep inside. “Will I ever find a way to be myself?” Someone stops and takes notice. She squats next to me. She contemplates. Her brows furrow. Her head tilts ...and… she smiles. She gets to know me and sees my potential Digging deep, she discovers what I’m really made of. (And I don’t scare her away!) My new friend likes me, mess and all. She picks something up and it touches me. It tickles! I feel… ...circles… ...triangle... ...zigzags. A brisk October evening, sitting on the porch. Sitting next to my new friend. I feel lighter now, understood. A goofy grin spread across my face. My inner light shining through.

Short and sweet, but oh so good. Not every pumpkin is meant to be carved, but this one was just right!
