I have spent some time thinking about how I want to use this site. Originally, this site was going to be solely related to my writing journey and a way for me to let everyone know what was going on while I am wearing my 'author hat.' After some reflection, I realized that's silly because I very rarely am wearing that 'hat' by itself!
So, from now on you will not only find information on the writing projects I have in the works, but you will be able to find teacher resources and recommendations based on my experiences as a full time teacher. Questions? You can reach me through CONTACT! Have a wonderful day! :)

So much fun! S l o w and SUPER-FAST! Up hills. Back down. Let’s run straight, curved, and zigzagged. Let’s run in circles. Let’s run in squares. The wind tickles our faces and makes our hair dance! Can’t catch us! I am so excited to be participating in #FallWritingFrenzy for the first time this year! For this contest, we had to pick a picture and write a story inspired by that picture in 200 words or less. Thank you for reading my story! Head to Lydia Lukidis' website to read all of the other wonderful entries! Halloween- Credit: Samantha Hurley / Burst Jackie L. Antern Wc: 130 A brisk October evening, sitting on the porch. Ignored by everyone who passes by. “What is my purpose,” I wonder deep inside. “Will I ever find a way to be myself?” Someone stops and takes notice. She squats next to me. She contemplates. Her brows furrow. Her head tilts ...and… she smiles. She gets to know me and sees my potential Digging deep, she discovers what I’m really made of. (And I don’t scare her away!) My new friend likes me, mess and all. She picks something up and it touches me. It tickles! I feel… ...circles… ...triangle... ...zigzags. A brisk October evening, sitting on the porch. Sitting next to my new friend. I feel lighter now, understood. A goofy grin spread across my face. My inner light shining through.
HUDDLE UP Word Count 198 Julie Maria You’re playing flag football, you meet in a huddle to plan the next play. You peek up. You wonder what the other team’s plan is, but you can’t see or hear a thing. They’re in a huddle too.
--- In 1894, the quarterback for Gallaudet University, Paul Hubbard was worried that the other team would be able to eavesdrop. You see, Gallaudet University is unique. 95% of their students are deaf or hard of hearing. They communicate using American Sign Language (ASL). At this football game, members of the other team were also deaf and knew ASL. Paul was concerned that players on the other team would see what Gallaudet was planning and ruin their play. Paul had his teammates stand in a circle facing one another so only his team could see what he was signing. That college football game was where the huddle was born. --- Your team straightens and gets in position. Your center snaps the ball to the quarterback. He looks across the field as the offensive line works to keep the defense away. The football sails down the field to complete a pass. You join your teammates in a huddle to plan the next play.
